Red skin flare-ups

Hi I am a 29 year old female, I have oily fair skin that gets red with every slight change of environment. The worst flare ups occur after I leave our air-conditioned office and tend to last for up to 2 hours. The skin on my face, chest and arms gets very red and gives off heat like a sunburn. This happens in both summer and winter. The A/C at work tends to be on the cold side and I am not able to make it warmer as everyone in the office agrees that is should be kept that way. I am very self conscious about the comments I get when I go out after work and I am wondering if there is something effective I can use during work or after to avoid the redness (apart from foundation which I am not keen to use on a daily basis). Thank you! Andrea

Hi Andrea

To help with reducing redness in the skin I would recommend Murad's Recovery treatment gel as it really helps reduce redness and sensitivity in the skin.

It sounds like your skin is ultra sensitive to change and easily effected by change in temperature. I understand your reluctance to use foundation on a regular basis but would urge you consider using a foundation daily for two reasons; firstly foundations are very advanced and will help give your skin an additional barrier to the elements so your skin will get less damaged by the winter weather and less susceptible to broken capillaries and redness; secondly it will help very much in giving you confidence by reducing the visible redness you experience in changing temperatures.

Our mothers used to warn us not to use foundation frequently as it would clog up the pores but good foundations are very advanced and are as beneficial as many treatments to the skin.  Bare Escentuals SPF15 Foundation is mineral form that is so pure you can sleep in it and gives a beautiful, flawless finish - this may be a good option for you try as a starter as it also has SPF15 which will protect against UVA/UVB in both summer and winter.
