Young oily skin

My daughter is 15 and her skin is rather oily and frequently breaks out, I am sure this is hormonal but should she start on a skin care routine and if so what will help this improve this situation? Also she is always touching her skin which I think makes it worse.

The skin is very sensitive and reactionary to any hormone imbalance, but starting on a simple routine in your teens will help regulate and improve the appearance of the skin.  Keeping skin clean and hydrated is key, without stripping the skin of all natural moisture.  In our teenage years the skin can be prone to producing more sebaceous excretions - in other words look oily. A general mistake is to over strip the skin using harsh alcohol based products and thus sending the skin messages to produce more oil and so we have a vicious circle of the skin getting oilier yet more dehydrated. I would suggest a routine of a mild anti bacterial wash, morning and night and an oil free moisturiser during the day.  It is most important that the skin is cleaned before bed as this is when most dirt and bacteria are present, keeping the hands off the skin will stop the spread of any blemishes and reduce the amount of germs present.
